Mr. David J. Conway became the Principal of the Hellenic American Academy in August of 2016.
Born and raised in Lowell, Massachusetts, Mr. Conway attended the Immaculate Conception Grammar School and graduated from Lowell High School, where he played varsity baseball. He went on to attend Our Lady of Hope Mission Seminary where he earned an A.A. in Latin. He then matriculated to Salem State University where he was awarded a B.A. in History/Social Studies, and later, an M.A. Degree in History.
Mr. Conway was a teacher at the Bartlett Middle School and Lowell High School for 20 years. In addition, he was a Housemaster at Lowell High School for 15 years. As a result of his thirty-five year career in education and his tenure on the Lowell School Committee for 8 years, he brings a wealth of firsthand knowledge of curriculum, instruction, assessment and of the importance of issues such as student achievement, school safety, discipline, and the importance of vibrant community partnerships, to his work at Hellenic American Academy. He is known for his creative ideas that foster student success and community links that benefit the culture of a school. An example of his creative vision is his development and implementation of a Grant Writer position that brought over $6 Million dollars of private funds in 2 years to support the students of Lowell. In addition, he developed an incentive program for improving school attendance and increasing college admissions, which was featured on ABC National News.
Dave and his wife Mary are residents of Lowell. They have two grown daughters, Jennifer Conway Fenn and Elizabeth Conway Wang. In addition, they have a beautiful young granddaughter, Julia.
